Erika’s grandfather Johann Korem was born on 25th of May 1847 in south-east of Estonia, in Võru county, Urvaste parish, Uue-Antsla manor.  Johann Koorem probably moved to Saaremaa because of his recruitment as a soldier in the Czarist army. Afterwards his occupation was cabinetmaker.  He was married in 1872 to Anna Katarina Kruse who was born on the 14th of September 1850

Johann died on November 25th 1906 and is buried in Kudjape Cemetery in Kuressaare.  Anna Korem died in 1910 and is also buried in Kudjape Cemetery.
